"Why French 75?"
As we began thinking about our passion for creating incredible events, we wanted a theme that would best describe the services we can offer brides and their wedding parties. By combining our talents, we believe we offer a unique service. Both Meredith and Reta have traveled to Paris and fell in love with the style and fashion that is representative of the city. We found a drink whose history signifies how powerful and more effective our team can be.
As we began researching signature drinks, we found the French 75 cocktail. Wikipedia offers this description: "The French 75 is a cocktail made from gin, champagne, lemon juice, and sugar. There is some controversy over whether the cocktail was originally made with gin or with cognac and champagne. The drink was originally concocted by the Franco-American World War I flying ace Raoul Lufbery, who was part of Escadrille Americaine air fighting unit. Legend has it that he liked champagne, but wanted something with more of a kick to it, so he mixed it with cognac which was readily available. The combination was said to have such a kick that it felt like being shelled with the powerful French 75mm howitzer artillery piece, also called a "French 75", or "Soixante Quinze" in French. The French 75 was popularized in America at the Stork Club."
About Us
Meredith Kohari has planned and coordinated a variety of weddings and became a Certified Wedding Planner through Wedding Planning Institute, a division of Lovegevity in 2007. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Clothing and Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in design from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. In addition to her regular studies, she spent 2 summers studying at the Paris American Academy in Paris, France. Also, she has worked in the retail clothing industry in sales and management positions.
Reta Kohari’s background in sales and marketing allows her to assist clients by negotiating the best contracts with reputable vendors and keeping within the bride's budgets. She is a Certified Wedding Planner from the Wedding Planning Institute and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Education Degree and a Masters Degree in Counseling. Besides teaching for 6 years, she has spent most of her career in education technology with companies such as Apple Computer and HP, holding either sales or sales management positions which included event planning responsibility. Because giving back to the community is an important value to us, she also serves as President of the Metrolina Chapter of Newborns in Need in Charlotte, NC.
